The Faerie Tree

The Faerie Tree
Aluminium wire
Bog Oak
350cm tall, canopy 300cm at widest

This piece was made in response to the beautiful piece bog oak a friend of mine supplied. The oak is approx 5-7000 years old and to me there is a poetry in using it to portray a tree again. The Faerie Tree is a quintessentially Irish superstition that has a significant hold even today. Motorways have been rerouted to avoid disturbing them  and farmers will often leave a lone Faerie tree in the middle of a field and work around it rather than run the risk of facing the consequences of the folk that live beneath.

This is not a small sculpture and stands at just under 3.5 meters. Would suit a large foyer or lobby. For further details please send message
